July 26, 2006 • Chrysalis 'Green Light' Campaign
Sporting hard hats and construction tools, Chrysalis committee members Anne Mundy, Fran Coleman and Dale Peacock (from left) receive a generous donation from Teresa Pretzer while promoting the upcoming ‘Chrysalis Green Light Campaign’ on Monday. The fundraising event, set to take place on the corner of Main and Centre Street August 4 and 5, will direct proceeds to the completion of the Chrysalis building.
If you watch carefully, you just might spot some eager volunteers wearing hard-hats and big smiles at a Huntsville stoplight in the near future. They’ll be raising funds for the Chrysalis Green Light Campaign on Friday, August 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. and again on Saturday, August 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At each of the stop lights at Main and Centre Street, volunteers with signs and buckets will be asking motorists to help Chrysalis in any way they can. Whether it’s a ‘loonie’ or a ‘toonie’ or a handful of the ‘folding stuff,’ each and every donation will be gratefully received and put to very good use. Chrysalis, Huntsville’s new women’s shelter, is very close to being a reality. The land has been prepared and the building is enclosed. A flurry of tradespeople labour diligently inside and out, every day. When it’s completed, Chrysalis will offer six bedrooms in the shelter along with ten affordable apartments to women and children escaping abusive situations. Please be generous. Put some money in the bucket and help give Chrysalis the green light. |
